28 Bolsheviks

The Twenty Eight Bolsheviks were a group of Chinese students who studied at the Marx-Engels Institute in Moscow during the late 1920s until early 1935. Trained in hardline Soviet policy, their return to China ushered in a renewed struggle between the Central Committee and Mao Zedong's fledgling Chinese Soviet Republic. At the 1935 Zunyi Conference, the Twenty Eight Bolsheviks attempted to seize control of the Republic from Mao; however, his rise to power as both Chairman of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Politburo prevented such a seizure. Important members included Wang Ming, Kang Sheng, and Chen Yun.
