Antiqua

 

Antiqua

Antiqua describes a form of typeface in which the lines in letters are not broken up. This is the most common form of typeface and is, in fact, notable in the font in which this article is written. The opposing form of typeface wherein the lines in the letters are broken up is known as blackletter. Antiqua type faces are modelled after antique Roman and Carolingian writing.
