Apache (dance move)

Apache (dance move)

A pattern where the man guides the woman's arm around her back at waist level, taking that hand in his other hand. Typically, the man puts the woman's right hand behind her back, taking her hand in his right hand.
This move is a setup for the woman to turn clockwise, unrolling her arm, or for the couple to pass each other while turning, resulting in the woman's arm being in front of her waist.
The name may come from common image of prisoners being controlled by their arms held behind their backs, in western films featuring indians of the same name.
