AphaniteAn aphanite is an igneous rock with a fine-grained structure. The individual crystals are too small to see with the unaided eye. Aphanites are commonly porphyritic, having large crystals embedded in the fine groundmass or matrix. The large inclusions are called phenocrysts. Common Aphanites
