Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary Northen Flinders Ranges South Australia The Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary is located 700km north of Adelaide in South Australia. The most common way to get there is by car, but a plane can be chartered from Parafield Airport in nother Adelaide. Arkaroola is a wilderness sanctuary and resort. Visitors can get anything from a luxuary room to budget accomidation. Vistors can also camp there if they prefer. There are many self drive tracks for 2 wheel drives and 4 wheel drives, ranging from begginger to advanced in difficulty. The main attraction of Arkaroola is the Ridge Top Tour, which takes you on a four-hour trip along the ridge top track with three lookouts that end with Sillers Lookout, where you can see the Beverly Uranium Mine. Another great tour at Arkaroola is the observatory tour where you can look deep into the skys for an hour through one of two of Arkaroolas 14-inch telescopes, which are some of the largest privatly owned telescopes in the southern hemisphere. Since the weather is usualy fine and there is little light pollution, an observer can see literaly millions of stars with his naked eye.
