Bedworth

Bedworth

Bedworth is a market town in the Nuneaton and Bedworth district of Warwickshire, England. The town is located between Coventry and Nuneaton, just north of Coventry, and is sometimes considered a suburb of Coventry. In 1991 the town had a population of 32,555.

Bedworth developed as an industrial town in the 18th and 19th centuries, due largely to coal mining and the overspill of ribbon weaving and textile industries from nearby Coventry. Until quite recently Bedworth was primarily a coal mining town, but the last colliery was closed in 1994.
Due to its good transport links, and close proximity to Coventry and Birmingham, Bedworth is now growing rapidly as a dormitory town.

Bedworth is next to the M6 motorway, and is served by a rail line between Nuneaton and Coventry. The Coventry Canal also runs through the town.
