British 4th Infantry Division
The British 4th Infantry Division served during World War II in France in 1940, North Africa and Italy. It fought at the Battle of Monte Cassino. The 4th Division's history traces back to the Battle of Salamanca in 1812 during the Peninsula War. See British 4th Division (World War I) for the division's World War I history. Currently the 4th Division is an infantry division based in south-east England. For a period prior to 1992 it was an armoured division based in Germany. The division's current insignia is a tiger.
