Claudia Julia
Claudia Julia (5 AD - between 43-45 AD), full name Claudia Livia Julia Caesaris, was the daughter of Livilla and Drusus Julius Caesar. She is also known as Livia Julia, Claudia Julia, Julia Livilla the Younger and Julia, granddaughter of Roman Emperor Tiberius. In Robert Graves' historical novels I, Claudius and Claudius the God, she is known as Helen, Helou, Heloun and Helen the Glutton. In 20 AD, she married her cousin Nero Caesar, the son of Germanicus Caesar and Agrippina the Elder. In 29 AD, due to the intrigues of Sejanus, her husband was put to jail on the orders of her grandfather Tiberius. Later that year, Nero Caesar was declared by both the Emperor and the Roman Senate as a public enemy. Nero Caesar committed suicide. Tiberius before the downfall of Sejanus had considered him as a potential husband for Claudia Julia. However Sejanus fell from favor and was executed on 18 October, 31 AD. . Later, in 33, she married Gaius Rubellius Blandus, from an equestrian family of Tibur; they had a son Gaius Rubellius Plautus (33-62) and a daughter Rubellia Bussa who was aunt-by-marriage to Nerva. Blandus died in 38 AD. She never remarried. Between 43-45 AD, an agent of Messalina had falsely charged Claudia Julia with incest and immorality. Her uncle, the Emperor Claudius without securing any defence for his niece, had her executed.
