Dillingham Census Area, Alaska

Dillingham Census Area is a census area located in the state of Alaska. As of 2000, the population is 4,922. The census area has no borough seat.

Geography


The census area has a total area of 54,204 km² (20,928 mi²). 48,367 km² (18,675 mi²) of it is land and 5,837 km² (2,254 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 10.77% water.

There are 1,529 households out of which 45.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.10% are married couples living together, 15.00% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.70% are non-families. 23.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.20 and the average family size is 3.84.

In the census area the population is spread out with 38.10% under the age of 18, 7.70% from 18 to 24, 28.90% from 25 to 44, 19.50% from 45 to 64, and 5.70% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 29 years. For every 100 females there are 109.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 108.80 males.
