E. H. Sothern
Edward Hugh Sothern (1859 - 1933) was an American actor and the son of actor E. A. Sothern. Sothern's first appearance was onstage in New York City. His father had encouraged other pursuits other than acting, but Sothern had already caught the acting bug. He was engaged in 1887 with Charles and Daniel Frohman in the stock company of the Lyceum Theatre. There he established himself as a dashing romantic leading man. He married actress Virginia Harned but divorced her to marry actress Julia Marlowe. As a couple, Marlowe and Sothern were known as the premier Shakespearian actors in their day.
