Evelynton Plantation
Evelynton Plantation is located on the north bank of the James River in Charles City County, Virginia. It is located on Virginia State Highway 5, a scenic byway which runs between the independent cities of Richmond and Williamsburg. Evelynton Plantation was originally part of William Byrd's expansive Westover Plantation. Named for Byrd's daughter, Evelyn, this site has been home to the Ruffin family since 1847. The 2,500 acre (10 km²) farm is still family owned and operated. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The house, lush grounds and gardens are open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
