FileNet Corporation (NASDAQ: FILE), founded in 1982, enables customers to build and maintain their competitive advantage by managing content throughout their organizations, providing the full-spectrum of connectivity needed to simplify their critical and everyday decision making. Based in Costa Mesa, California, the company markets ECM solutions in more than 90 countries through its own global sales, professional services and support organizations, as well as via its ValueNet(R) Partner network of resellers, system integrators and application developers. According to Gartner, a leading industy analyst firm, FileNet's P8 platform has limited adoption within its installed base. FileNet has been weak on web content management (WCM), and its team collaboration component, although announced, hasn't yet shipped. Although FileNet's records management offering is tightly integrated with the P8 process and content engine, and it is US Department of Defense 5015.2-certified, it is new and hasn't gained significant traction. It has adopted a 'build' strategy rather than 'buy' strategy in rounding out its product suite with records management and collaboration. This offers better platform integration but slows time to market.
