Fi zilal al-Qur'an
'In the Shade of the Qur'an' is a highly influential commentary on Islam's holy book, rated by many muslims as a legitimate tafsir, by the Egyptian Islamic philosopher and leader, Sayyid Qutb. The work extends to 30 volumes. It is this book, along with his manifesto, Ma'alim fi-l-Tariq, that Qutb developed the philosophy that God's sovereignity over humankind meant that human rule was illegitmate as a concept. These are said to have become core values in current islamism, except in the special case of a Caliphate, of which none really exist in the present.
