Geelong Airport

Geelong Airport

Geelong Airport (IATA airport code: GEX) is a small airfield specifically for light aircraft located in Mount Duneed, Victoria, Australia. It is in the Local Government Area of the City of Greater Geelong. It is primarily used for scenic flights and private aircraft.

The airport is about the same distance from central Geelong as Avalon Airport, which is perhaps why it has remained largely small and undeveloped. Though commercial airlines have attempted to fly services to Geelong in the past, they have chosen to use the more developed airport at Avalon, which is on the Melbourne side of the city.

The airport contains only the one runway. The site is also used to record wind and weather measurements for the area.
