Glass family
The Glass children are fictional characters that have been featured in several of J.D. Salinger's short stories. Their mother is Bessie Glass. They are listed here from oldest to youngest: - Seymour Glass (1917-1948) - the eldest, committed suicide
- Buddy Glass - may have narrated the story Zooey, and is sometimes considered to be Salinger's alter ego
- Boo Boo Glass - actual name is Beatrice, is a mother
- Walt Glass - died in World War II packing a kerosene stove
- Waker Glass - is a priest. Walt and Waker are twins
- Zooey Glass - featured in the story Zooey, and considered to be the second most gifted among the children, after Seymour
- Franny Glass - featured in the story Franny
The characters in the Wes Anderson movie The Royal Tenenbaums are often compared to the Glass family. It is interesting to notice that Boo Boo is married to a Mr. Tannenbaum, as described in the story Down at the Dinghy. They have all appeared on the fictional radio quiz show It's a Wise Child.
