GM E platform
The General Motors E platform (commonly called E-Body) was a front wheel drive personal luxury car automobile platform produced from 1979 through 2002. It was essentially identical to Cadillac's K platform, but that was dedicated to sedans, while all E-bodies were coupes. A smaller version, the GM V platform, was produced for two "halo cars", the Buick Reatta and Cadillac Allante. These only lasted from 1987 through 1993, however. Previous E-bodies date back to the 1966 introduction of the Buick Riviera and Oldsmobile Toronado, two groundbreaking front wheel drive cars. The only vehicle to survive the E-body was the Riviera, which moved to the GM G platform for its final years.
