Guildenstern
Guildenstern is a minor fictional character from William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet. He is also, however, a major character in Tom Stoppard's Waiting for Godot/Hamlet pastiche, Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead. Like his companion Rosencrantz, Guildenstern often stumbles upon deep philosophical truths, departing from them without much further thought. He can be viewed as overly analytical. It is false to say that he is more intelligent or informed of the overall situation within the play; both characters experience moments of enlightenment.
