Hove

This article is about the English town of Hove. For other uses see Hove (disambiguation). Hove is a next-door neighbour of Brighton, on the south coast of England. Brighton and Hove form a single conurbation, and in 2000 the two towns gained official recognition as the city of Brighton & Hove.

Hove extends from West Brighton to East Portslade.

Hove's commercial district is currently growing rapidly since a large Tesco store was opened in 2003 and since the town centre received a much needed renovation in the late 1990s.

Hove is home to two main places of secondary education: Hove Park Secondary School and Blatchington Mill High School, both of which have integrated sixth forms. BHASVIC (Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form College) is Hove's only dedicated place of further education.

Hove's wide boulevards are a retreat from the bustle of Brighton. Hove is seen by some as a more desirable location and it is often referred to by locals as "Hove actually". This is because when a questioner asks a Hove resident whether they live in Brighton, they are reputedly met with the response "No, Hove actually!". This is because Hove is seen as a more desirable location, and its residents are keen to point out that it is not simply a part of Brighton.
