Hsin Ting
Hsin Ting was born in central Taiwan, he took the tonsure under Venerable Master Hsing Yun in 1968 and the full ordination the following year in Keelung. Ven. Hsin Ting graduated from the Eastern Buddhist College and the India Research Institute of the Chinese Cultural University. He further received a Honorary Doctorate Degree from Hsi Lai University, U.S.A. in 1998. A carrier of the torch for the Venerable Master's Humanistic Buddhism, he dedicates himself completely in propagating the Dharma for the benefit of everyone. He had held a variety of posts: secretary of Fo Guang Shan's Religious Affairs Committee, Managing Director of Ilan Buddhist Society, Abbot of Lung Wah Temple in Malaysia, Hsi Lai Temple in USA, Taipei's Pu Men Temple and Kaohsiung's Pu Hsien Temple, President of American Buddhist Youth Association, Vice President of BLIA R.O.C. Ven. Hsin Ting was elected as its sixth abbot by Fo Guang Shan's Religious Affairs Committee ever since May 1997. A multi-talented monastic, he is well versed in speaking the Dharma, construction projects, Buddhist chanting, and composition of music and lyrics. His compassion and mild manners, humility and joy touch everyone he comes across and makes affinity with.
