Kung Fu (song)

Kung Fu (song)

Kung Fu was the first single released from the album 1977 by the Britpop band Ash on March 20 1995 as a CD single, limited edition 7” and standard 7” vinyl and included “Day of the Triffids” and “Luther Ingo’s Star Cruiser”.

It reached number 57 in the UK charts and the sleeve pictured footballer Eric Cantona’s infamous kick on a spectator that occurred in January 1995. In an away match against Crystal Palace F.C, Cantona launched a 'kung-fu' style kick (a clearer picture is available here) against a spectator after being sent off by the referee. He was sentenced to 120 hours of community service after an appeal court overturned a 2 week prison sentence for assault. He was also suspended by the Football Association until October.

The song also features as track 11 on Intergalactic Sonic 7’’s (September 9 2002) Ash’s singles collection album.
