Lake Arrowhead is a census-designated place located in San Bernardino County, California. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 8,934.

The University of California, Los Angeles operates the nearby UCLA Conference Center, a full-service conference facility with lodging and meeting space.

Geography


Lake Arrowhead is located at 34°15'23" North, 117°11'29" West (34.256290, -117.191326).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 32.8 km² (12.7 mi²). 29.7 km² (11.4 mi²) of it is land and 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 9.71% water.

Demographics


As of the census of 2000, there are 8,934 people, 3,243 households, and 2,445 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 301.3/km² (780.4/mi²). There are 8,857 housing units at an average density of 298.7/km² (773.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 90.47% White, 0.56% African American, 0.88% Native American, 1.02% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 3.87% from other races, and 3.08% from two or more races. 13.55% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 3,243 households out of which 37.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.6% are married couples living together, 8.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.6% are non-families. 18.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.75 and the average family size is 3.17.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 28.9% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 28.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 100.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.0 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $60,826, and the median income for a family is $65,183. Males have a median income of $50,016 versus $35,526 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $28,176. 9.1% of the population and 7.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 10.5% of those under the age of 18 and 6.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
