Les Aventures extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec

Les Aventures extraordinaires d'Adèle Blanc-Sec (The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Dry-White) is a tongue-in cheek cartoon adventure series set in fin de siecle Paris and the early 1920s, written and illustrated by French comics artist Jacques Tardi. Adele is a cynical journalist whose research into crime leads to a love affair with a burglar. Her efforts to rescue him form the plot of the first story, Adèle et la Bête. Themes of crime, the occult, corruption, official incompetence, and the dangers of patriotism suffuse the series.

Casterman has collected the stories to date in the following albums:

  • 2. le Démon de la tour Eiffel (The Demon of the Eiffel Tower) (1976)
