Lozen
Lozen was the sister of the Apache chief Victorio. She was born into the Chihenne band during the late 1840's. She was a skilled warrior and a prophet. According to the legends she was able to use her powers in battle, to learn the movements of the enemy. Victorio is quoted as saying "Lozen is my right hand... strong as a man, braver than most, and cunning in strategy. Lozen is a shield to her people." After Victorio's dead at Tres Castillos in Mexico, Lozen rode with Chief Nanaand they joined Geronimo and his band. In 1886, she surrendered with the last group of free Apaches. She was sent to prison and died of tuberculosis at the Mount Vernon Barracks in Mobile, Alabama.
