LP5
LP5, released by Warp Records in 1998, is an album by the electronic music group Autechre. The album does not actually have a title, although it is very commonly referred to as LP5. It is also called simply Autechre. This album shows Autechre finally abandoning the full, warm sounds of albums like Tri Repetae for a stripped-down, technical style they begun exploring in Chiastic Slide and the Cichli Suite EP. It is fairly controversial; many regard it as Autechre finally descending into unlistenable pretension, and equally many regard it innovative and genius.
