Lubosh G. Hale
Lubosh G. Hale was Finance Minister in Czechoslovakia during the 1968 occupation by the USSR. It became necessary for him to leave and he eventually settled in the United States where he worked as an academic administrator at the University of Chicago and Washington University in St. Louis. As a one of the most prominent refugees from the former communist world, he had some influence on US foreign policy-and encouraged the US to support economic liberalization in China even if it wasn't immediately acompanied by political liberalization or increases in human rights.
