When you demultiplex (demux) a DVD's VOB files, you get video that is in m2v format, plus audio that is in AC3 format.
If you can play MPEG 2 files on your PC, then it is very likely you can play m2v, even if the m2v files don't have a proper icon. Try dragging an m2v file onto the DivX player icon to test this.
