MAN 24.310MAN 24.310 is a bus model of Kowloon Motor Bus. There were 30 buses with Berkhof bodywork and 17 with Volgren Bodywork. All of them were running on express routes from Tuen Mun. On the model name, 24 means that the bus has the weight of 24 tonnes, whilst 310 means that the engine has the power of 310bhp. 24.310 therefore means that the bus has the weight of 24 tonnes and the power of 310bhp. Berkhof BodyworkHistoryThe buses were originally ordered by Citybus. However, Transport Department set quota on the number of fleets owned by Citybus, and it was therefore forced to cancel the order. The buses were eventually bought by KMB. They were prepared and introduced in 2000. InteriorThe lower deck of the bus was like a city bus running in Berlin. After the staircase and the rear door, there were steps to the end of the lower deck. However, the space of the seats at the end of lower deck was very narrower, even narrower than that of Dennis Jubilant. Some passengers in the area complained that they have to give way to other passengers leaving the area. The environment of upper deck was similar to that of the lower deck. The passenger capacity was 122 (U59+L33+S30). ServiceThe buses were allocated to 60X and 260X, which run from Tuen Mun to Jordan and Hung Hom respectively. The Volgren bodywork28 MAN 24.310s with Volgren bodywork was delivered to Hong Kong in 2002 and introduced in the same year. They were numbered as AMN31-58. The environment of the interior was similar to that of AMN1-30. However, there were no reverse seats at the lower deck. The passenger capacity was only 118 (U59+L29+S30), even lower than the last batch of Dennis Dragon 11m air-conditioned (introduced in 1997). ServiceThe buses were mainly allocated to route 57M, which runs between Shan King (Tuen Mun) and Lai King. See also
