MC Frontalot
MC Frontalot, self-proclaimed "world's 579th-greatest rapper," is an online musician specializing in the rap subgenre nerdcore hip hop, which he is believed to have founded (and also to have coined the term). Penny Arcade declared Frontalot their official rapper in 2002. A few months later he recorded the "Penny Arcade Theme," which was, in his words, "an attempt to cash in on their huge and devoted audience." MC Frontalot is known for his comedic lyrics parodying Star Wars, Madonna, spam e-mails, indie rock, gambling, and other themes. Much of his music features samples from other artists' works, many times using music acquired from famous (and notably unrelated to hip-hop) artists such as Paul Simon, They Might Be Giants, James Brown, and many others. He addresses his borrowing of various drum beats in the song "Good Old Clyde," a song commenting on and using the popular "Funky drummer" drum break by Clyde Stubblefield. He also collaborates with other artists, including an appearance in "Rappers We Crush," a song by German industrial music artist Kompressor.
