Mircea Snegur
Mircea Ion Snegur (b. 1940) is a former President of Moldova. In the Soviet era, his name was Mircha Ivanovich Snegur.
Education Kishinev Institute of Agriculture
Career Member of the Communist Party 1964-90.
1967-71 - worked as agronomist, manager of state and collective farms. 1971-78 - with the Ministry of Agriculture. 1978-81 - Director General of the Research Production Association "Selektsiya", Kishinev. 1981-85 - Secretary of the Communist Party committee of Yedinetskiy district. 1985-89 - Secretary in the Central Committee of the CP of Moldavia. 1989-90 - Chairman of the Presidium of Supreme Soviet of Moldavia.1990(Apr-Sep) - Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Moldavia. 1990-96 - President of independent Moldova.
