Mystery ball
The mystery ball (or wrong'un) is a type of cricket bowling delivery developed by Saqlain Mushtaq and Muttiah Muralitharan. The pitch uses an off break action and release, but actually spins the other way. The bowler inverts his wrist in delivery, and bowls the ball out of the top of the hand rather than the front. This subtle variation imparts top-spin, and even a little leg-spin, on the ball. The final result is a ball spinning in the opposite direction to the way the batsman expects.
