Nagai Takashi
Dr. Nagai Takashi (永井隆, 1908-1951) was a Japanese medical doctor whose efforts towards peace earned him the affectionate title "Saint of Urakami". After treating hundreds and thousands of wounded victims of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki, Dr. Nagai collapsed as a result of leukemia, from which he had been suffering before the bombing. Although he became bed-ridden, he continued to write no fewer than 20 books before he passed away in 1951.
