NBA playoffs
The NBA Playoffs The NBA playoffs are four rounds of competition between sixteen teams in the eastern conference and western conference. The winners of the conference quarterfinals advance to the conference semifinals and the winners of the conference semifinals go on to the conference finals. The teams playing eachother may have to play up to seven games to determine who goes home and who moves on to the next round. In the first round the team that wins three out of five games advances to the next round, which is the semifinal round. In the semifinal and final rounds the team that wins four out of seven games wins the round. There may not always be seven games played because a team may win four games in a row and eliminate the other team. History The history of the NBA playoffs dates back to 1946 when Dr. James Naismith invented the game of basketball. The competition in the NBA has been getting more and more competitive as years have gone by. The playoffs are full of emotions and intensity coming from both teams on the floor. The referees often have to give out technical fouls to players and/or coaches when they let their anger get the best of them. A fight between the two teams on the floor would not be unusual nor unheard of, because there have been several instances where teams have got into it during the games.
