Overview

  • Neg9 is a group which was formally the West Coast Hackers. Neg9 is a group of security-concious individuals who get together monthy and hold meetings about current security events and open source projects. The group also loves hardware hacking and modding whatever possible.
  • The name may also be referred to as Negative Nine Security, Neg Nine, etc.
  • Neg9 is a good social group at this time, enjoying attending security conferences, and getting together to party every now and again.

    Historical

  • The West Coast Hackers group (Wch) was founded by craSH (cdine) and Teletype- (Dr. Smudge) in mid-to-late 2003.
  • Neg9 was started by EvSoul a while back, one of the first members of the Wch.
  • The West Coast Hackers adopted the Neg9 name in mid 2004, with aims to gain a cleaner name to people who may be weary of a group with the word "hackers" within the name.
