Neo-Geo 64

Neo-Geo 64

Neo-Geo 64 was a video game system created by SNK. It followed in the footsteps of the Neo-Geo series but featured 3D graphics.

Named the "Hyper Neo-Geo 64", SNK released this as a motherboard for arcades. SNK released this in order to catch up with other companies in 3D gaming. Released in 1997, the Hyper Neo-Geo 64 used custom 64-bit RISC processer, 4 megabytes of program memory, 64 megabytes of 3D and texture, and 128 megabytes of memory for 2D characters and backgrounds. Though this sounds pretty good, it was out-dated compared to what companies, such as Namco and Sega, offered in arcade processors. Only seven games were made for the Hyper Neo-Geo 64 in the two years of its lifespan.
