Nero (music)
Nero is a jam band based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Made up of Dave Lauzon on guitar, Chris Buote on bass and Jay McConnery on drums. Nero's musical style incorporates a heavy jazz drum beat and full-forced, driving bass lines. Their songs start off with a general melody, on guitar, and lead into more complex improvisational rock, keeping in time with funky bass. Their three-piece arrangement allows each player to showcase his individual talent. Their music combines rock, funk, dance, jam, tech and psychedelic rock influences, and their stage performaces include flashing lights. Nero began playing together in 2001, and toured relentlessly, playing many shows and music festivals including Evolve 3, Evolve 5, moe.down IV, and North by Northeast. The band announced in late 2004 that they would be taking a hiatus and played their final show on December 31, 2004.
