Netbux
Netbux is a web site (started April 7 2005) that claims to pay participants US$0.02 for every Web search they perform, the money coming from sponsors through Google's adsense program. Netbux also claims to be able to provide large amounts of income to its members through referrals. These referrals are subtle, and the fact that one has been refered is hidden as best as possible upon entering the site. Claims of making exponential profits are made, based on ones 'downline'. Because of the multi-level marketing aspect to Netbux, many are beginning to question the legality of the scheme. As of late-April 2005, over 10,000 people have registered at the website, and this number is growing exponentially, with more referrals making more money for those who got in early, but arguably ripping off later entrants. Little information is required to sign up, namely an email address and a password. Payments are made via eBay's Paypal money transfer system.
