NTD-8
NTD-8 is an Australian television station, licensed to, and serving Darwin and its surrounds. It is owned by Publishing and Broadcasting Limited, and is a Nine Network affilate, also broadcasting selected Ten Network programming (e.g. AFL games). It broadcasts on VHF channel 8. It was launched on 11 November, 1971, and was Darwin's only commercial television station until TND-34 launched in 1998. On New Years Day 2003, Channel 8 Darwin became Channel 9 Darwin, in line with the rest of PBL's stations. Also on that date, programs from the Ten Network decreased, much to viewers outrage. In 2005, in the midst of the tug-of-war for the AFL television rights, PBL announced that National Rugby League games will take precedence on the station over AFL games, a sign that Nine may be about to give up the race for the rights to a proposed Seven-Ten consortium.
