Nutan
Nutan (June 4, 1936 - February, 1991), is considered one of the finest actresses in Indian Cinema. Nutan was the daughter of actress Shobhna Samarth. She started her career as actress as a 14 year old in Hamari Beti (1950). Her first big break was Seema (opposite Balraj Sahni) which won her a filmfare. She followed her success with romantic comedy Paying guest (opposite Dev Anand). In 1959 she had two hits in Anadi (with Raj Kapoor) and Bimal Roy's Sujata (with Sunil Dutt). There was no looking back after that. Her facial expressions were her greatest assets. She can be called Audrey Hepburn of Indian Cinema. Nutan has won 6 Filmfare Awards and countless others - the most any actress has won to date: 1985 - Outstanding Performance Meri Jung - 1985 1978 - Best Actress Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki - 1978 1967 - Best Actress Milan - 1967 1963 - Best Actress Bandini - 1963 1959 - Best Actress Sujata - 1959 1956 - Best Actress Seema - 1955 Being called the best by the best is probably more important than the filmfare awards. Lata Mangeshkar calls her the face she could sing for. Dev Anand identified her as the actress you could carry out an intelligent conversation with. Sadhna called Nutan her idol. Her son Mohnish Behl is an actor too. Her sister Tanuja also acted in movies. While her niece Kajol has had a very successful career in films.
