Obsolete (album)

Obsolete is Fear Factory's third official album, released on July 28, 1998.

Inside the booklet, a concept story follows along with the music. It can be considered a sequel to Demanufacture. The story is about the future of man and how the machines have taken over humanity. However, a hero named Edgecrusher sets out to destroy the machines and save humanity. It is said that Edgecrusher was based on a man that the band once met in China who would smash any electronic item if you payed him to. The band found the idea so ridiculous but it stuck with them and came through in this album. This album was also rated gold.

The sound on this album featured more of an organic sound than the previous Fear Factory albums.
