Obsolete Russian weights & measures
Obsolete Russian weights and measures were used in Imperial Russia and after the Russian Revolution until they were replaced in the Soviet Union by a metric system in 1924.
Russian system Weight - Funt () is 409.5124 g
- Pood () is 40 funt, i.e. 16.38 kilograms.
Length - Verst, Versta () is 3,500 feet (1.0668 km), about two-thirds of a mile
- * 1 versta = 500 sazhen
- * also the "border versta" () equal to 1000 sazhen was in use, to measure land plots and distances between settlemets.
- Sazhen () is 7 feet or 2.1336 m.
- * 1 sazhen is 3 arshin
- * Swung sazhen () is 1.76 m
- * Skew (oblique) sazhen () is 2.48 m
- Arshin () is 0.77 yard or 71.12 cm.
- Chetvert (, quarter) the same as "pyad"

Tatar system The Tatar system is very similar to the Russian one, but some names are different.
