Oeshoking Kanishka II with, on the reverse, a depiction of Shiva and the word Oisho in modified Greek script.On ancient Kushan coins, Shiva (I'sha) in Bactriann, is pronounced and spelled Oesho. Shiva is apparently the titular deity of ancient Bactria, which became Kushan. Bactria encompassed essentially much of Afghanistan and Tajikistan, having been captured by Alexander the Great. |
