Oh... Rosalinda!!
in Oh... Rosalinda!!. Oh... Rosalinda!! (1955) is a film by the British director-writer team of Powell & Pressburger.
Story Based on the operetta Die Fledermaus by Johann Strauss but updated to take place in post-war Vienna as occupied by the four-powers of Britain, America, France and Russia. These four powers are represented by Maj. Frank (Dennis Price), Capt. Westerman (Mel Ferrer), Col. Eisenstein (Michael Redgrave) and Gen. Orlovsky (Anthony Quayle) who are led a merry dance by Dr. Falke (Anton Walbrook) and Rosalinda (Ludmilla Tchérina). With new lyrics to the Strauss tunes by Dennis Arundell and professional singers dubbing for some of the actors this is a light-hearted romp that makes full use of the new CinemaScope process. This is not just a film of a staged production but a truly filmic operetta.
