OmomyidNone extant The omomyids, the extinct family Omomyidae, were prosimian primates, native to Europe and North America, between 30 and 50 million years ago during the Eocene and Oligocene. They are considered to be a probable ancestor of the tarsiers. Some scientists claim that they also are an ancestral form of the Haplorhini, i.e., monkeys and apes (including humans). Other researchers, however, believe they were related to the anthropoids, but not direct ancestors.
