OOM Gallery
Located in Birmingham, OOM Gallery has established itself as one of Britain's best contemporary online galleries. OOM Gallery is unique, as it promotes and represents the the multi disciplined work of filmaker and artist, Pogus Caesar. OOM Gallery has built a strong reputation for exhibiting thought provoking shows such as Caesar's "Muzik Kinda Sweet"- a photographic homage to legendary black musicans and "Machine Envy - man's lust and desire for the motor car. In 2002 Caesar was commissioned by Artangel Interaction to produce a film in response to Turner Prize winner Steve McQueen's cinematic installation Caribs Leap / Western Deep. The result was Forward Ever, Backward Never, Caesar's powerful film challenged the notion of love and death in 19th century Cuba- the film premiered at Lumiere at St Martins Lane, London October 2002. The gallery has also exhibited Caesar's large scale photographs in VIBE 'A History of Urban Music' at Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry 2004.
Established in 2001, OOM Gallery also houses Pogus Caesar's extensive photographic archive, limited edition photomontages and excerpts from films that he has directed. Ext Ref: |
