Opel Sintra

Opel Sintra

The Sintra was an MPV sold by General Motors in Europe, badged as an Opel, except in the UK, where it was badged as a Vauxhall. It was produced in the US, where it was sold as a Chevrolet model known as the Venture.

Released in 1996, the Sintra proved unpopular in Europe, and its image was also adversely affected by reports of its poor results in crash safety tests. It was dropped in 1999, and was replaced by the much smaller Zafira, based on the Opel/Vauxhall Astra.

Other Sintra twins were the Buick GL8 in China, and the Pontiac Trans Sport and Montana, and the Oldsmobile Silhouette. It is a distant relative of the Saturn Relay, Chevrolet Uplander and Buick Terraza.
