OSNews

OSNews is a computing news site with a focus on operating systems and their related technologies. Its content is managed primarily by Eugenia Loli-Queru, who joined the site in 2001. David Adams first started OSNews in 1997, and continues to manage business operations. Eugenia previously ran BeNews, a BeOS news site. There are other editors who contribute occasionally. The editors contribute news items and manage the submissions of news bits, articles, editorial comments and reviews that are submitted by readers, in addition to writing original articles.

Like other technology news sites such as Slashdot, it has a free user/subscription model, and allows viewers to add commentary to articles, however the moderation and threading system differs from Slashdot. It uses a hybrid editor-moderated comments system wherein readers can report "abusive" comments, which will be reviewed by editors and diverted to another page if they are found to be out of compliance with the forum rules. This hybrid system is controversial, and OSNews editors are frequently accused of bias and censorship. However, many readers have emailed OSNews editors to thank them for keeping the level of discourse higher than the average on internet message boards.

OSNews also maintains some offshoot sites: New Mobile Computing and Gnome Files (a GNOME and GTK software repository)
