Paolo Thaon di RevelCount Paolo Thaon di Revel (1859-1948) was an Italian admiral during World War I. He twice served as Italian Naval Chief of Staff during the war and was reluctant to risk the Italian battlefleet in anything other than a major surface action. After the war he was promoted to Grand Admiral.
