Perched water table |
|
|
Perched water tableA perched water table is an aquifer that occurs above the water table. This occurs when there is an impermeable layer of rock perched above the main aquifer but below the surface. Water on the way down to the main aquifer get trapped above this second impermeable rock layer. When a perched aquifer reaches the Earth's surface, a spring forms because water flows out freely.
