Pikmin 2


Pikmin 2 (ピクミン2 Japanese) is the sequel to Pikmin for the Nintendo GameCube. In Pikmin 2, Captain Olimar returns to the planet with his new assistant, Louie, to find various treasures to bring back to Hocotate. The game was released on August 30, 2004.

The Pikmin

Main article: Pikmin (character)

The red, yellow, and blue Pikmin from the previous game return, along with two new colors of Pikmin; purple and white. Unlike the others, they do not have Onions. Instead, they are created when an existing Pikmin is thrown into a "candypop bud." There are also Bulbmin, a type of parasitic Pikmin that infects Dwarf Bulborbs. Being in the body of a Dwarf Bulborb protects them from drowning, electrocuting, burning, and poisoning. They are only found in caves and will not leave them.

    Other new features


    The new features of Pikmin 2 include:

  • No 30-day time limit
  • Olimar and Louie can help out the Pikmin
  • Collectable berries which can be used as sprayable objects and increase the Pikmin's strength or paralyze the enemies
  • A two-player mode
  • A total of 201 treasures to collect
  • A bonus at the end when all 201 treasures are collected
  • A two-player challenge mode that unlocks a movie when completed
