Piriformis syndrome |

Piriformis syndromePiriformis syndrome occurs when the sciatic nerve passes through the piriformis muscle, as opposed to passing below it. This is seen in 12% of the population. Spasm of the piriformis muscle can mimic the pain of sciatica. This can be treated by muscle relaxants.
